PayneCrest performed all electrical work for the new multi-building facility for The Woodlands, Texas-based PyraMax Ceramics, which will mine kaolin clay to manufacture tiny ceramic pellets used in fracture drilling operations. PayneCrest imparted its “best practices” to transform a skilled local workforce into a highly efficient construction team. It installed power from eight transformers to eight switchboards in the plant to feed 17 motor controls which power nearly 400 motors and numerous variable frequency drives to ensure optimal plant performance. PayneCrest also powered three main electrical rooms and installed fire alarm, a fiber optic backbone, lighting, a backup generator and more than a dozen programmable logic controllers for more than 3,000 plant instruments. PayneCrest produced more than 700 drawings and carefully planned and integrated wiring for a variety of systems from international vendors. Throughout the project, PayneCrest successfully maintained a rigid schedule and an impeccable safety record with no lost-time injuries in more than 110,000 man-hours of work.
