An era of intensified EPA regulations has increased the need for PayneCrest’s services to modernize power plants – among them, the Empire District Electric’s 216-megawatt Power Plant in Ashbury, Mo. Ashbury’s new Air Quality Control System (AQCS) was successfully activated as PayneCrest delivered precision electrical installations supporting the plant’s new scrubber system. The new system removes sulfur dioxide, particulate, mercury, and other pollutants from the flue-gas exiting the plant through the chimney. PayneCrest‘s electrical installation power new emissions control components including a circulating fluid bed dry scrubber, pulse-jet fabric filter, powdered activated carbon (PAC) handling and injection system and continuous emissions monitoring technology. The quality of PayneCrest’s work, its dedication to safety, ability to meet all schedule milestones and deliver cost savings and optimal performance through value engineering met all of Empire’s expectations.
